What is Ninebot?

Ninebot can be described as a self balancing electric device to transport one person over

short distances.

The concept of self balancing electric scooter was developed by Segway in 2002. Ninebot is an independent similar device with some similarities and improvements over original Segway. The Ninebot company bought in 2015 Segway. Link to press release here. Ninebot is made from a resin which is giving both strength and low weight the total device is under 23kg. The two wheels are specially designed by Michelin to give optimum traction on road and off-road. Please be careful - the device we are using is not specifically designed for off-road use hence it cannot cope with bumps over 2-3 cm. The Ninebot features dual redundant technology to ensure that if one system malfunctions, the other system compensates for it and keeps the rider safe. Automatic speed limiting system/alarm The Ninebot’s smart speed limiting system calculates a maximum speed based on battery power and the driver’s weight. If the rider attempts to surpass the maximum speed, the Ninebot gradually slows down and limits speed to ensure the rider’s safety. Fast retrogression alarm The Ninebot can detect retrogression speed. The unit will vibrate and an alarm will sound it the rider is traveling too quickly in reverse. Over loading alarm The Ninebot is also equipped with an overload alarm. If output power is in danger of exceeding a safe limit, an alarm will sound. Smart alarm The smart alarm will sound and the unit will automatically begin to slow down in the event of a heat system malfunction, low power, mainframe overheating, etc Its battery consists of TESLA Model S super lithium battery cells, which are 50% more powerful than typical batteries. The Ninebot’s two separate batteries create a redundant pack and enhance rider safety. In addition, the batteries are UL and UN38.3 certified and may be transported via some of the world’s largest shipping companies including UPS and FedEx. Low carbon emission Highly efficient motor control and gear technology, an ultra-light body, automatic electronic system recycling of braking and deceleration energy all help deliver zero-emission and super low-carbon personal transportation.
